[Bucky is beyond confused by the question, Walker's response to his answer to said question, and his reaction after.]

Are you okay?

[ As fine as anyone else in this tower, even if they're all trying to be a little more honest about how very much not fine they are and- it's.

Yeah, you told me you once drank antifreeze in order to try and get drunk and I got a little concerned.

It wasn't going to do anything permanent, I did the math.

[ The knee jerk response is safer than paying any attention to the part of him that perks up at Bucky being concerned over him.

We leave those feelings in a box and ignore them. ]

Now I know about the Space booze and won't have to. Easy.

[His frown deepens a little, but he studies John and...he can't pick up on anything that signals dishonesty here, even if it feels like the other man is just telling him what he wants to hear.]

Everyone that got some variation of the serum had tests done up till the Flag Smashers. Even then that guy had reports of how quickly it could burn through toxins, it's why I chose what I did.

Bleach would've been more effective, but I'm not an idiot.

Right. [...this does not really make Bucky feel any better, John. But he appreciates that you tried.]

I'm glad you didn't try the bleach thing. Not a good time. Tastes like shit, burns all the way down. Doesn't really make you drunk, just super sick.

I was the first to survive HYDRA's version of the serum.

[Bucky presses his lips together, shrugging.]

They wanted to test my limits.

...next time we're in the shame rooms together I have so many more people to punch.

Well hopefully that doesn't happen again. And pretty much all those people are dead now anyway.

[He shrugs a little, though he's touched that John would.]

Bob does have his stuff on lockdown lately. I'm willing to bet something will happen one day when he feels like he has to try to help.

Yeah. I've been thinking about that too. [He's pretty sure it's inevitable.]

I think we should start training him.

He's been making noises about learning how to shoot. I've been teaching him how to go for joints; you know he'd hate actually killing someone.

Yeah, that's a good plan. He'd be devastated.

[He leans on the counter, considering.]

You work with him on that and I can work with him on some basic self-defense stuff. Hand to hand.

He only really needs to be able to get one punch in to run. One day he'll be comfortable enough to try for more but- giving him what he needs to get away and get safe is my priority.

[He's quiet for a moment, considering, fingers running absently over the countertops.]
