Well She was on the side of the road alone In the rain In the middle of nowhere I don't know if someone dumped her or she got lost but I suddenly had a cat.
[It's...not entirely dissimilar to how he adopted this entire group tbh.]
[It's also how he'd gotten Steve all those decades ago. So. Maybe there's a pattern here he should be concerned about??? Then again by a lot of people's viewpoint, he is the stray that Captain America adopted.]
That's not an entirely inaccurate assessment I guess.
Bob abandons his phone on the bed in his room to pad his way down the hallway and toward the kitchen to meet Bucky. His footsteps are soft and cautious at this hour; he knows none of them have normal sleep schedules but he still tries to be mindful of the others, who may or may not be trying to sleep behind their closed doors.
“Hi…” his voice is soft, in hopes of not startling him; he’s dodged a handful of improvised weapons from more than one of his cohabitants already.
Bucky doesn't really have a sleep schedule. He naps here and there but regular sleep? Forget it. It's not a thing anymore. Hasn't been for a long time. He's used to it. His body doesn't require the kind of sleep that most people's do. He hears Bob coming, atop of knowing he's on his way, so he doesn't startle.
He generally doesn't these days. It would take a lot for anyone to get the drop on him, though. "Hey," he greets. "How do you take your coffee? I just made a pot."
Bob is going to be surprised when Bucky decides to try that bougie creamer. He's always had a terrible sweet tooth. The idea of drinking black coffee makes him shudder. He'd vowed never again, after HYDRA, when they allowed him such a luxury as black coffee, which was fucking rare.
"Sounds good." He pours two cups of coffee, leaving enough room in both cups for the creamer. "Think she'll mind us stealing it?"
"Just tell her it was me," he grins. He knows Yelena practically lets him get away with anything, even things she won't tolerate from other people sometimes.

She's a sweet girl.

Especially the good kind, really. Because then I’m just left waiting for it all to be ripped away again.
[Because that is the cycle he found himself in over and over again.]
No, my dad wouldn’t allow it when I was a kid and then… my life wasn’t really uhhh
Conducive to having a pet after that
Is there anything we can use to try and draw her out of hiding?

Date: 2025-05-09 02:00 am (UTC)And I agree.
[The good kind of change has always scared him more, too. For that exact reason. It's why he's kept most people at arm's length for so long.]
Fair enough. I haven't had Alpine for too long.
Sorta happened by accident.
Treats, maybe.
